I joined the board of Rainbow Missions in late 2019; the reason was to respond to God's prompting to serve God's people with what I have been given!  I was laid off after 22 years of service at Starbucks Coffee company.  At that time, I realized I had been putting my efforts in pursuing the wrong goals in life and I needed to pursue a God's purpose-driven life.  During this soul-searching period, Rainbow Missions came into my radar.  God showed me that I could use the gifts He has giving me to help various needs in Rainbow Missions and that   I need to boldly step out of my comfort zone to serve God's people.  The people served by Rainbow Missions are those who cannot help themselves and are viewed as disabled (the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind) by society and are viewed as unworthy in their own country.  But God sees them and loves them!  So, I needed to see them and love them!

Verses that inspired me:

“Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.” (1 Peter 4:10 GNT).

"Then he told the man who had invited him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, stop inviting only your friends, brothers, relatives, or rich neighbors.  Otherwise, they may invite you in return and you would be repaid.  Instead, when you give a banquet, make it your habit to invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then you will be blessed because they can’t repay you.  And you will be repaid when the righteous are resurrected.” (Luke 14:12-14)

After joining the board, I learned so much from Pastor Rain and all the staff.  Each decision and step they make always considers the kids they support.  I can really feel the love they have for each child we support.  Their selfless acts embody Christ’s love.

I hope, during my service on the RM Board, we can continue to support and love each child the way Christ loves them.  I hope to inspire more skilled and resourceful people to join this effort and be able to design a program that will help the children build skills that will make them more self-sufficient without needing to rely on families, institutions or government agencies.
